We've got a fun one for you today. MovieNight now has badges — little achievements you earn automatically just by using the app. No forms to fill out, no buttons to press. Do the thing, get the badge.

How it works

Badges are awarded automatically based on what you do on MovieNight. Create a list, and you might find a shiny new badge waiting on your profile a few minutes later. Each badge has its own criteria, its own icon, and its own color — and we'll be adding more of them over time.

Head to your profile and you'll find a new Badges tab. It shows everything you've earned so far, plus progress bars for the badges you haven't unlocked yet — so you always know exactly how close you are to the next one.

The Beta badge

Here's the one we're most excited about: everyone who signs up during the beta gets the exclusive Beta badge. Once the beta ends, this badge is gone forever — nobody else will ever be able to earn it. If you're reading this, you're early, and your profile will prove it permanently.

There's also a new Badges page where you can browse every badge that exists, see how many members have earned each one, and check out the community leaderboard. One note: only members who've set a username and avatar show up on the leaderboard — so if you want your spot on the board, make sure your profile is dressed for the occasion.

And one more thing…

Badges aren't the whole story. There's a secret related feature we've been quietly building, and it's landing in just a few days. We're not saying what it is yet — but if you like earning badges, you're going to want to keep an eye on this space. That's all the hints you get.
