  Matt designs, builds, and runs every part of MovieNight — the ranking algorithms, the daily data pipelines that sync thousands of movies, the community features, and the infrastructure it all runs on. A lifelong movie fan who got tired of spending longer choosing a movie than watching one, he built MovieNight to answer a single question well: "what should we watch tonight?"

MovieNight is an independent, self-funded project — no studio partnerships, no paid placements, and no one paying to move a movie up a list. Rankings come from transparent methods: box office charts use reported worldwide revenue, streaming picks use audience scores checked against daily availability, and the MovieNight 100 is decided entirely by member Versus votes using a confidence-adjusted Wilson score.

Movie metadata comes from TMDB, and everything opinion-based comes from the community. If you spot a mistake — wrong release date, missing streaming service, broken page — the fastest way to get it fixed is the contact page.
