Open head, take out brain, enjoy film. Don't worry about the story, it's just good vs bad again. There is no real depth to the movie. It's just there to give an excuse to show you bright colors, amazing animation, and throw in standard accents to solidify the impression that certain people are good and others are bad. Certainly do not try and learn any lessons from this film - certainly not cultural and not about mental health. Operate at a state of lower consciousness during consumption. Let the pretty pictures and droning bass tickle your sensory inputs to distract you from the world around you. Just a typical Marvel film.

Unfortunately this was not a good movie... The bad guys were all very one dimensional, the movie was full of inconsistencies and weird logic. I feel the movie was more focused on "The Message" then making a good movie :(

Dare I say, that by the end of Supergirl, I kinda enjoyed it more than Spider Man: Brand New Day, for one main reason: **\[SPOILERS AHEAD FOR SUPERGIRL, SPIDER MAN: BRAND NEW DAY, AND DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN S02\]:** After all the philosophical "killing him won't bring your family back" BS, Kara kills the villain. She left a bunch of the others alive, but she killed the main villain. Thank !@#$! *Compared to Brand New Day allowing a child killer to get away so he can return in an X-Men sequel, where he'll probably kill some more kids and get away with it too.* Real life is imitating dystopian fiction a little too much these days. I don't need my fictional escapes being as incompetent as real life. Either the villain wins the day, or they get !@#$ed. That's the bar. No more "he's free but he has no power, and that's worse for him than being imprisoned" philosophical BS. That being said, I need to re-watch this to nitpick my issues with it, but one of them was certainly the pointlessness of Lobo being in this movie. P.S. Is it too much to ask that the anti-wokies spell out what their !@#$ing problems are? Is it: 1. The black folks. 2. The Asian sidekick. 3. The super-powered female lead. 4. The girl-power soundtrack. 5. The portrayal of human trafficking and sexual abuse. 6. The Asian sidekick asking the super-powered female lead why she calls herself "girl" instead of "woman". 7. Are the female lead's breasts and backside not big enough? 8. Is the female lead's skirt not short enough? 9. Is the female lead not AI/E-Girl pretty enough? 10. Et cetera. Spell out ya !@#$in' problems, man! Use ya !@#$in' words! Articulate, MOFO!

This is a fun little movie with a decent enough introduction of Supergirl and I think they do a fine job of moving her around and getting her to engage in the plot and doing things without turning into God mode and just ending the plot immediately. The inclusion of the sidekick is good and adds a lot to the narrative flavor of the story and it is fun to see Lobo do Lobo things even though he doesn't get that much room in this movie. Considering the last Supergirl movie was a very very long time ago I think this updates the character and makes her a bit more approachable. I'm not sure that the direction is where we want the character to end up ultimately, but this isn't a bad setup at all.

I have to confess I came to "Supergirl" expecting not a lot. General reviews online and on YouTube have, for the most part, not been positive. Starting with the negatives, yes, there's a dash of woke nonsense. That said, it's not overdone, although I strongly feel any and all films are better off without it. On the upside, this is quite an enjoyable romp. The main character of Supergirl is likeably dysfunctional and quirky, traits that follow through in the story and other characterisations. This isn't the "saccharine superman" franchise; it's the grunge, cyberpunk edition. Everyone's a little weird, and it works really, really well. Pacing is on the mark too, with action that's colourful, at times gutterally violent, frenetic and oddly fun. On the subject of which, this film has a sense of humour. It's often rather trashy, but given how this film is presented, it complements it comfortably. In summary, I liked "Supergirl". There, I've said it. It's fun, eccentric in a good way and downright entertaining. Yes, there's a little woke bullshit, but it's more an insignificant bystander with a small placard than some provoking attention-seeking idiot with a massive neon sign, if that makes sense. Worth a look.

"Kara" (Milly Alcock) is an unfulfilled soul who revels in a bottle and a battle in equal measure - despite the more restraining attempts at influence from her more famously caped cousin (David Corenswet). That explains why she isn't so very interested in getting involved with "Ruthye" (Eve Ridley) who is on a quest to avenge her murdered family at the hands of the mighty "Krem" (Matthias Schoenaerts). It seems, though, that try as she might she can't shake off this pesky brat and after an altercation of her own with this man as he pinches her spaceship and puts a dart into her beloved pooch "Krypto", she is soon embroiled in a series of escapades across the galaxy seeking the antidote that hangs in an amulet around his neck. All the while, "Lobo" (Jason Momoa) on an huge motor cycle that might ask some very personal questions about this bounty hunter's inadequacy complex is also seeking "Krem" and so works alongside, if not exactly in tandem, with the pair as they constantly manage to escape from the frying pan into the fire against seemingly overwhelming odds, a green sun and even some injectable kryptonite. Sadly, no, there is very little original in this film aside from some flashbacks to fill us in on how she escaped from the doomed "Krypton" in the first place, but I did enjoy Alcock's charismatically enthusiastic and laissez-faire characterisation: a girl with attitude who knows how to kick ass but really just wants to be left in peace to meander the galaxy's yellow suns with her mischievous super-mutt. There is plenty of action and it's quite an enjoyable accompaniment to the rather sacharin-like Corenswet's efforts as "Superman" - but will you ever remember it? Hmmm, I doubt it.
