The world of Pandora will change forever.
In the wake of the devastating war against the RDA and the loss of their eldest son, Jake Sully and Neytiri face a new threat on Pandora: the Ash People, a violent and power-hungry Na'vi tribe led by the ruthless Varang. Jake's family must fight for their survival and the future of Pandora in a conflict that pushes them to their emotional and physical limits.

Even Shakespeare's Polonius complained to Prince Hamlet that the traveling actors' Greek Tragedy speeches were too long -- and over four centuries later there is still something to be said about testing audience patience. Cumulatively, audiences have had to sit through over 9-hours on James Cameron's Pandora in his **AVATAR** films -- with its mind-blowing special effects about the indigenous Na'vi trying to preserve their way of life from intergalactic colonialism hellbent on exploiting their resources. This isn't quite as brutal as Leopold II's actual late 19th century subjugation of the Congolese during the Rubber Trade -- but the environmental messaging was made crystal clear in Cameron's not-so-subtle first film that grossed more than $2 billion at the box office. 2022's **WAY OF WATER** appropriated Maori culture and Pacific Islander teenage slang with its "cuz" and "bro" -- terms of endearment that Cameron expected his audience to accept as actual common Na'avi sobriquets. I didn't buy it in 2022 -- finding the dialogue cloying, and grating. Still, this is James 'Spectacle' Cameron -- and he's nothing if not a talented director of action set pieces, and stunning visuals. In **AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH** -- (which I was able to be immersed in in IMAX 3D) the story delves deeper into the children of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) after the events of **WAY OF WATER** weigh heavily on the theme of family, unity and survival. But those are also the same themes from the second film -- and herein lies the central problem of **FIRE AND ASH** -- as it begins to feel like the same dish served with a different garnish. In this overlong second sequel, the same concerns about a resurgent human military targeting the pristine air, lands and seas remain in place -- and the same rogues gallery of bad guys are back for a third helping of hunting down Worthington and Saldana's brood -- led by Stephen Lang's Colonel Miles Quaritch who, like a bad penny, keeps turning up to wreck havoc on Pandora. But Cameron sets aside extolling the virtues of the Noble Savage, introducing audiences to a corruptible and equally warlike Na'vi Ash People, led by Varang (Oona Chaplin) who cavorts around the film smirking and engaging in snarling standoffs with Saldana wearing a distinctive frilled headdress that conjures up memories of Wayne Knight being ambushed in **JURASSIC PARK**. When Chaplin's Varang inevitably teams up with Lang's Quaritch to face off, again, with Worthington and Saldana -- we're given incredible action set pieces -- that is heavy on style, but lacking, as ever, in substance. I didn't hate this film -- it's incredible what Cameron can do with a budget that rivals the GDP of a small Third World country -- but the rendering of the supporting Na'vi characters, as it did in **WAY OF THE WATER**, seemed less-emotive than those of the main Na'vi mains, leaving some of the interactions blank in expressions and testing my ability to differentiate them from other Na'vi characters. I wonder how much code is applied to the supporting cast for those computer rendered facial expressions -- and I'm willing to bet they're a lot less than what they give Saldana, Lang and Worthington. These **AVATAR** films have been visual triumphs -- but in the age of AI screensavers and digital images that increasingly test our ability to detect what is real and what isn't -- the novelty that Cameron has enjoyed as a visionary director may be less and less spectacular and awe-inspiring. (It's an ironic development in entertainment given that Cameron's **TERMINATOR** films -- especially **T2** -- warned society about the dangers of artificial intelligence). Don't get me wrong -- I really love Cameron's earlier work and would like to see him tackle other stories in his enormously imaginative mind -- including a **TRUE LIES** sequel, another **ALITA** film and beyond. I see no great tragedy if **AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH** is his final trip to Pandora (notwithstanding there are two more sequels already written, waiting in the wings, presumably on the Box Office returns from this one) -- and handing these off to someone else, say, Guillermo Del Toro might breathe new life into these films the way Irvin Kershner did for the **STAR WARS** franchise with **EMPIRE STRIKES BACK**.

78/100 Pretty much culminates in a 5 army war between the Omatikaya forest tribe & Metkayina reef tribe, the Tulkuns, the Ash tribe and the Sky People. At well over 3 hours long, I'm happy to say that the pacing was awesome and they did not waste a minute. Although there was obviously plenty of eye candy, focusing on the story, the individual drama, the politics and the rising war was a welcome change to just staring at a pretty screen. The action sets were fantastic and exciting and I loved every character in it. Finally, looking forward to more sequels. -- DrNostromo.com

The three stars out of 5 that I (barely) gave this movie is entirely due to the scenery, special effects and the action. The rest is meh, at best. First of all, a lot of the movie is really a rehash of the second movie. Sure, they throw in the Ash People but the rest is to a large extent very similar. We’re back to the RDA hunting the Pandora version of whales again and of course the attitude of these “whalers” are so over the top and unrealistic that it really drags down the movie. It was the usual big companies are bad stereotype taken to new levels. That rubbish is getting old Hollywood. Second they bring back a lot of the really annoying people that I hoped was actually gone like the colonel, the idiotic manager and, worst of all, the dumbass “whaler”. All of them were just annoying and should have staid away as far as I am concerned. Lazy writing not being able to write in some (good) new baddies. Well, there was one new baddie. The queen of the Ash People. To be honest she was the only somewhat interesting person in the entire movie. She had a bit of Mad Max vibe. The heroes, that is Jake and Neytiri, were mostly annoying. Jake especially lacked charisma and certainly did not give off any hero vibes. The part where he even contemplated to kill a innocent person to “protect” the planet (which was a totally false justification to begin with) really disqualified him as the hero for me. The constant appease, hide, do not fight and general pacifistic nonsense, both from Jake but also from the other people and, not the least, the creatures of the planet, was annoying in the previous movie and continued to be annoying in this one. Finally the end fight where the two tribes first easily smashed up the RDA just to, within minutes, be utterly defeated because the Ash People arrived. Lazy, writing again. Then they rehashed the already used idea of the planets wildlife responding from the first movie and suddenly everything was fixed. Lazy writing again. It could have been cool if they had woken some huge never before seen mega-predator but a a few squids jumping around? Meh. As I wrote the entire enjoyment of this movie for me was the scenery, special effects and action sequence. It is a really beautiful movie. The story, lazy, sometimes annoying and definitely mediocre.

I watched Avatar 3 time: Fire & Ash and I'm giving it a straight A+ 🔥 The visuals? Mind-blowing – Pandora has never looked this alive, every flame and wave feels real 😍 That ending left me speechless – emotional, epic, and perfectly sets up what's next James Cameron did it again... this is why we go to the movies! 👏✨

Avatar keep pushing the vfx at the top of levels. The final battle was one of the most crazy scene i`ve never seen. For another hand, the story, still giving me feeling of some disney series family.

Liked the film. It was not to long and not to short. I wasn't boread at all. But I think it's just the previous film but with less water. There is nothing new in this film.
